Art Expos

An art expo is basically a large, sometimes travelling exposition that consists of displays of art by both individual artists and also art dealers.
An art dealer may show off the art of several of the artists he or she represents at once.
These can be very small local events or they can be huge international affairs with big glittering galas that invite participants and vendors from all over the world.
In addition art expos sometimes include products and services offered by sellers of art suppliers, canvas makers, picture framers and art consultants.

Sometimes wine and beer companies, flower companies and caterers are also present at art fairs to try and sell their products to artists, dealers and those who hold their own art fairs, exhibitions and art fairs.
Many art consultants actually attend art affairs looking for artists to add to their roster of talent so they can sell art to banks.

Artists looking for dealers and art supplies attend these events as so art dealers looking to add new talent to their stable.
Most art exhibitions publish a catalogue or brochure. They are also good places to get free or discount copies of art books and art magazines.

As art magazines are quite expensive this can be well worth the price of admission.
Some art expos raffle off art for charity and offer displays of performance. Sometimes seminars about art techniques or lectures by famous critics or essayists are part of the expo.

Videotape and film screenings are often a standard feature of most art expos as well.
There is also such a thing as themed art festivals.

A good example is the annual Guitar Art Expo held in Belgrade, Serbia which features decorated exotic guitars from all over the world as well as performances from eccentric individuals playing their artistic guitars.
Famous examples of art expos are the Art International Artexpo New York, the Venice Bienniale and the Toronto Arts Expo.
