Business Research & Marketing Association of Canada

FACT SHEET

The Association was formed in 1977 as a not-for-profit organization.

The Association's by-laws (1994) state:

Scope

IMRAC's scope shall be:

  1. business-to-business marketing (i.e. goods and services sold to other businesses rather than for individual or household use).
  2. marketing activities including: marketing research, planning and strategy, sales force management, distribution, advertising and promotion, pricing, product/service development and customer service.

Aims

The aims of IMRAC will be:

  1. to provide education and professional development for its members in business-to-business marketing techniques via meetings, seminars and publications.
  2. to act as a forum for networking among members, both at meetings/seminars and via publications e.g. newsletter, Membership Directory and now through an Association web page.
  3. to disseminate information about sources of marketing information and business-to-business marketing techniques, both to members and those outside the organization.
  4. to represent the interests of members with other related organizations and when appropriate, with governments, trade associations, educational institutions, etc.
  5. to encourage the growth and development of the professions of marketing and research in the business-to-business sector.

Who is served:

Membership is open to those interested in and likely to make a contribution to any aspect of business-to-business marketing and research including students enrolled full-time in relevant courses in a Canadian University or Community College. Most are either marketing or sales executives, or marketing research or management and marketing consultants. Meetings are open to both members and non-members, as are seminars and conferences. The newsletter and Membership Directory are available to members only. We reach a wider audience through our publicity efforts, which include sending write-ups of our meetings to a variety of publications serving the business community.
